Consult with teachers to create sessions around a specific text or subject
Provide all source materials and artifacts for the sessions such as newspaper reports, websites, items and properties as required.
Provide actors to work within the sessions as facilitators or in character to be interviewed & questioned by the pupils
Allow products to be fluid by responding to the discoveries and behaviour of the participants and adapting the product accordingly.

English Literature- Macbeth
King Duncan has been murdered and the police must investigate the circumstances, question witnesses and suspects, search through source materials to identify the killer and provide suitable supporting evidence.
Pupils Role Police Investigators
Key Tasks Finding evidence from source materials including witness reports, sketches and photographs of murder scene, autopsy reports (age appropriate), using police computers (supplied websites), writing official reports & Memos, writing newspaper articles, interviewing witnesses and transcribing from tape.
Target Areas Identifying sources & bias, writing in appropriate tone, understanding Shakespearian text
Additional Areas Computer literacy, Working as a team, presenting information in appropriate ways
   
Biology- the Human Body
3 bodies have been discovered and it is up to the forensic team to try to identify them from the list of missing people and discover how they died.
Pupils Role Forensic Investigators
Key Tasks Autopsy bodies (age appropriate) and check findings against known conditions of missing people. Identify cause of death from discovered evidence and use supplied resources (books, leaflets and websites) to hunt for other information and facts to support findings. Use basic tests to identify foreign matter on bodies. Question possible family members to help with identification.
Target Areas Human Biology, basic chemical reactions, identify conditions linked to life-style conditions (smoking, drinking etc), understand basic genetics
Additional Areas Computer literacy, working as a team, presenting information in appropriate ways, writing in appropriate tone

In the above examples, the ideal sessions could be 2 full days, or several shorter sessions spread out over a week. The pupils would walk into the workspace to find an actor there in character who would take them straight away into the situation, providing them with all books, leaflets and materials required to do the investigations. We will also supply a fully functional set of websites for the pupils to use to find supporting materials for the project.
